MVS Goes West and Visits the 50 West Brewing Company

50 West Brewery and Burger Co.

The 50 West Brewing Company arrived in Chillicothe, Ohio, via Cincinnati. For those unaware, the 50 West Brewing Company gets its name from the highway on which it is located--Highway 50 West. The base of their brews and food is even more fascinating along this beautiful highway. Granted, I've only seen Highway 50 through Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland. Still, I'm sure the rest is as lovely as the small portion I have traveled.

Recently, MVS went to the Chillicothe location of the 50 West Brewing Company, where we tried the food, but, as I mentioned, I don't drink, so I didn't try the beer. I plan to have someone test it out to understand what to report. Or, if anybody out there has tried it, let me know what you think in the comments. I would greatly appreciate it, and it would let me know someone is actually reading these.

Location

The branch we visited is the Chillicothe location. I have yet to try the original Cincinnati location, but I'm sure it's the same quality at both locations; it would be weird and a little upsetting if it wasn't. Why would you make each place be different? But I digress.

Parking

The parking for this location is plentiful, but you either have to feed a meter or, if that doesn't appeal, you'll need to park further away from the area and walk to avoid paying. But it's not a big deal since the restaurant is in the Historic District, where plenty of shops and experiences exist before you reach your destination.

Atmosphere

50 West is a fun location. The establishment sits across the Carlisle Building in an old bank. The only reason I know this is because their gift shop is set up in a bank vault. Fun!

Anyway, the establishment is quaint. Painted in brown, orange and white and you feel comfortable there.

The menu, which consists mainly of burgers and fries, is easy to read and navigate. You can choose from a classic burger that has the usual toppings of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle, or you can choose from one of the specialty burgers. This menu is fun and unique because each specialty burger is a state Highway 50 runs through. So you can have the Ohio burger, the Maryland burger, or the West Virginia burger. I chose the California burger, which comes with guacamole and tomato.

Make sure you order the fires, of course. Crispy, golden crinkle fires that are adequately salted and come with the most fantastic fry sauce.

Once you place your order at the front, they give you a number, and you find a table, and the server will bring your food to you.

The establishment has an upstairs and downstairs; we went upstairs, found a bench to sit on, and waited for our meal.

When it arrived, we were not disappointed. I mean, look at it. Amazing!

Quality

The burgers are fantastic. They have a smashburger quality, are juicy, and have little crispy edges. Oh, I love that! When you eat it, you know you are getting real, quality beef, not that filler fast-food type, and there is no stopping once you start. The experience is over too quickly. Savor it once you hit the last bite because once it's gone, you'll miss it. You can order more, but I need to figure out how the food travels, seeing as I can't imagine it making it out of the restaurant.

The burgers are that good and that fun.

I'm considering trying the Missouri burger next time.

Menu and Prices

Price

For four people ordering four burgers, fries, and drinks with unlimited refills and an order of pita and hummus, the grand total came to a little over $50. That's pretty good considering the amount of food and what we ordered. So, if it's just you and a partner, it would be over $25. That's great, in my opinion.

However, I have yet to try the beer, so it may cost more depending on the brew you order. Again, if anybody has tried it, please let me know in the comments.

Gift Shop and other Goodies

As mentioned, The 50 West has a gift shop on the bank vault's first floor. Shirts, jackets, stickers, and other items are available for purchase. So be sure to show your support for this establishment. They deserve the praise.

Conclusion

The 50 West Brewing Company is a welcome stop to grab a quality bite to eat and to enjoy a drink or two while you enjoy the atmosphere. The parking is all right, the establishment has a welcoming vibe, and the price for such delicious offerings could be higher. Still, they keep the prices decent so everybody can enjoy the experience.

When you visit Chillicothe, if you want some of the best burgers and fries in town, stop at The 50 West Brewing Company.
